Games like Rally Racer Dirt that run free in a browser start with Mars Rally Championship, a free browser rally game, listed first because it is ours: one rover, timed Mars stages, a co-driver and verified leaderboards, but no garage of cars. On merit, the Rally Point series is the closest clock-and-checkpoint racer, Dirt Rally Driver HD has the most cars to buy and upgrade, Free Rally puts other drivers in an open world, and Rally Champion and Mad Skills Rallycross run in a phone browser.

Quick picks, one per use case:
- Stage rally with co-driver calls and verified leaderboards: Mars Rally Championship, our game, with one rover and no tuning.
- Beat a target time through checkpoints: the Rally Point series from Xform Games, on CrazyGames and Poki.
- The biggest garage to buy and upgrade: Dirt Rally Driver HD, with 19 cars, in a desktop browser.
- Other drivers in an open world: Free Rally, on shared servers, with vehicles from a bus to a dune buggy.
- On a phone browser: Mad Skills Rallycross on Poki, with dirt, snow and asphalt circuits. Rally Champion is the other phone-friendly pick.
- The oddity: Co-Driver on itch.io, where you type the pace notes against the clock.
What Rally Racer Dirt does, and what it leaves out
Rally Racer Dirt is a drift-based rally game on asphalt and dirt that CrazyGames credits to Valvolex. It began as a mobile game in 2015, and the WebGL browser build arrived in November 2023 and was last updated in July 2025. The listing counts 13 rally cars and 5 tracks, with Challenge (60 challenges) and Survival, where you drive as long as you can through checkpoints, plus a realtime multiplayer mode. The App Store says the cars tune for suspension, anti-roll bar, ride height and gearbox ratios. It is not Rally Racer, a different 2016 game from Cool Games.
What it leaves out is the shape of a rally stage: no listing shows a point-to-point stage against the clock, and none mentions a co-driver. Ghosts and leaderboards are not confirmed. For every free rally game in a browser, see the full rally shelf, and for what a stage rally is, see what rally racing is.
Rally Racer Dirt alternatives at a glance
What we compared: point-to-point stages, co-driver calls, surface handling, car selection, ghosts, leaderboards, multiplayer and phone play, from each game's portal listing, store page or itch.io page. Mars Rally Championship's details come from its own code. We did not hand-test every game; a dash means not confirmed. Last checked: October 2026.
Mars Rally Championship is first because it is ours; Rally Racer Dirt sits second as the benchmark, and the rest are ordered by how many of its strengths they keep.

Mars Rally Championship: stages, notes and verified boards
Our game, listed first for that reason. This is Mars Rally Championship's own site; everything below it is ranked on its merits.
Mars Rally Championship is a free 3D rally game in the browser with no download, no account and no ads. It has three stages: Stage 1, The Eight, a 2,676 m night loop whose finish gate stands 9 m from the start position; Stage 2, The Long Run, 2,306 m point to point; and Stage 3, The Opener, 1,164 m and steep, and not a beginner stage. The Mars Cup runs all three in order on cumulative time, with damage carried from stage to stage. A co-driver calls the corners, there are three Mars surfaces, and every stage has verified boards whose runs you can race as ghosts.
Diagram: the three stages to one scale. The Long Run and The Opener run point to point; The Eight finishes 9 m from its start.
It covers every column in the table except car choice, though only two of its three stages run point to point. Skip it if the garage was what you loved about Rally Racer Dirt: there is one rover for everyone, no performance upgrades, and 21 cosmetics that change looks only. There are three stages and no contact racing.
Play free — no downloadThe Rally Point series: the clock and the gates
The Rally Point series, from Xform Games, is the nearest thing here to a stage clock with checkpoints. Rally Point on CrazyGames started as a Flash game in January 2011 and was rebuilt in WebGL in February 2019. You pass checkpoints in order or a barrier appears, and beating target times unlocks vehicles and tracks. Space fires nitro, and overheated nitro can blow the car up. Rally Point 4 is listed on CrazyGames as an offroad time-attack racer for desktop browsers, and Rally Point 5 plays on Poki. Rally Point 5 and 6 are also sold on itch.io as Windows downloads, and we did not confirm that Rally Point 6 plays in a browser.
Skip the series if you want notes, other drivers or a phone build: handling is arcade with nitro, no co-driver or online mode is listed, and Rally Point 4 and 5 are listed for desktop only.
Dirt Rally Driver HD: the biggest garage
Dirt Rally Driver HD, from Falco Software, is the pick for car collectors. Its CrazyGames listing describes a Unity WebGL game with a free-roam open world, a racing mode of more than 100 races, 19 cars to buy and upgrade, and a level system that unlocks cars and maps. Skip it if you want a stage with a co-driver: none is listed, it plays on desktop only in the browser (there is an Android app), and no online mode is listed.
Free Rally: other drivers, no stage
Free Rally, by oneru220, was first released in 2017, and CrazyGames lists it as updated in 2026. An online server lets players race or ram each other, and the vehicles run from a bus and a sedan to a dune buggy. It plays on desktop, phone and tablet in landscape or portrait. Skip it if you want a stage or a clock: it is free roam, other players can ram you, and ghosts and leaderboards are not confirmed.
Rally Champion: phone-friendly races against rivals
Rally Champion, by MarketJS on Poki, has you race to finish first on forest-themed tracks around the world, drifting through curves and using speed lanes. Poki lists computer, phone and tablet. It is a race against opponents and positions, not a stage against a clock. Cars, surfaces and online play are not confirmed. Skip it if you want a co-driver, times to chase or a garage.
Mad Skills Rallycross: rallycross on a phone
Mad Skills Rallycross, from Turborilla, plays on Poki on desktop, phone and tablet, with custom rally cars on dirt, snow and asphalt tracks. Rallycross is circuit racing against rivals. Skip it if you want point-to-point stages or notes; multiplayer in the web build and leaderboards are not confirmed.
Co-Driver: type the pace notes
Co-Driver is a game-jam typing game, not a driving game. Daynab, GivenKittens and NateMasterFlash made it in Godot for NoPoly's Game Jam #1, on the theme "Role Reversal": you type the pace notes against the clock to get through the turns, and typing faster builds boost. It is here as the one other browser game we found built around pace notes. Skip it if you want to steer.
Stages, notes and surfaces compared
Point to point, or round and round
Rally Racer Dirt lists challenges, an endless checkpoint mode and online races. In Rally Point a missed gate throws up a barrier. Mars Rally Championship runs Stages 2 and 3 point to point, while Stage 1, The Eight, is a single timed pass through 12 checkpoints that ends 9 m from where it began: right-handers out, left-handers home.
Who calls the corners
None of the portal games here lists a co-driver. Mars Rally Championship derives its notes from checkpoint geometry and speaks them through the browser, 8.0 seconds ahead at your current speed (clamped to 25 to 260 m). Each call gives the direction first, then the grade as a word on the rally 1 to 6 scale, such as "left five". The opening call, "stage starts, straight 236 meters" on Stage 1, gives the distance from the first gate to the first called corner (109 m on Stage 2, 75 m on Stage 3). The tightest call anywhere is Stage 1's "right three", and no stage calls a 1 or a 2.
Diagram: The Eight's corners as the co-driver grades them, right-handers out and left-handers home; gate 3 is the only three, and gate 5 misses one by 0.3°.
A strip at the top of the screen shows the next call with its live distance and an advised speed, such as RIGHT 4 · 120 M · ▼ 45, and a BRAKE cue lights when the stop needs all the road left. The calls and the strip run on timed forward runs only: not on reversed or storm runs, in free roam, in the tutorial or in replays. The printable pace-note card explains each call.
Surfaces and cars
Rally Racer Dirt runs on asphalt and dirt. Mars Rally Championship has three Martian surfaces: regolith, the default loose dust, at ×1.00 grip and about 3.1 m/s² in total; hardpack, the lakebed crust, at ×1.15 and about 3.6 m/s²; and polygon ground, which slips, at ×0.75 and about 2.2 m/s².
On cars, Rally Racer Dirt offers 13 tunable cars and Dirt Rally Driver HD 19 to buy and upgrade; Mars Rally Championship has one rover for everyone and nothing to tune. If setup was your favorite part, a Mars stage will feel bare.
Ghosts, leaderboards and racing other people
Ghosts and leaderboards
Only Mars Rally Championship confirms both; for every other game here, ghosts and leaderboards are not confirmed. Every Mars stage has three boards, forward, reversed and storm, at 50 runs a sheet, and each run has REPLAY and RACE. The server re-simulates every submission before the time posts. The ghost you race is a translucent rover at 25% opacity, a 30 fps pose recording, and every stage opens with the tire tracks of its board's fastest runs, up to three, pressed into the regolith.
In-game screenshot: a board run's ghost, a translucent rover at 25% opacity, just ahead on The Eight's opening straight at night, lit by the chasing rover's light bars.
Live races
Rally Racer Dirt lists a realtime mode against friends or random players, and Free Rally has shared servers where drivers race or ram each other. Mars Rally Championship holds up to 8 pilots in a room, from an invite link (/play?join=<code>) or a public lobby, with no collisions, and online race times go on the leaderboard automatically. Open the online lobby to try it.
Phones
Rally Racer Dirt, Free Rally, Rally Champion and Mad Skills Rallycross list phone browsers, while Rally Point 4 and 5 and Dirt Rally Driver HD list desktop only in the browser. Mars Rally Championship shows touch controls (GAS, BRAKE, HANDBRAKE, a steering track and gear chips) on phones and tablets under 1200 px wide, in landscape. More phone-friendly games are in our mobile browser racing roundup.
Where to try this
Start driving, or begin on Stage 1, The Eight, the night loop. Ghost racing explains how to race another run's ghost. For the whole free shelf, read the full rally games list, and if the sliding was what you liked in Rally Racer Dirt, try games like Drift Hunters.
