Mars Rally Championship, a free browser rally game, is listed first because it is ours: it runs in a desktop browser tab with no install, but it is a rally game, not a drift game. On merit, the best drift games for PC are CarX Drift Racing Online for most players, Assetto Corsa with a steering wheel, Forza Horizon 6 for open-world drift zones, JDM: Japanese Drift Master for touge roads, and Absolute Drift for an old laptop. Drift Hunters is the free pick in a desktop browser.

What to check before you buy a drift game on PC
Four checks decide most PC drift purchases. The first is the published minimum graphics card and RAM: a minimum is a floor for a game that runs, not one that slides smoothly. The second is download size, from 350 MB to 60 GB in this list. The third is pad or wheel: a wheel with force feedback lets you feel the rear step out before you see it. The fourth is price: free, a demo, or paid.
What we compared: price, the published minimum graphics card and memory, download size, and controller and steering-wheel support, from store listings (several read through third-party mirrors, marked as such), publisher pages and reviews. Mars Rally Championship's details come from its own code. Prices change and sales are frequent, so we quote list prices only where a source gives one. Last checked: October 2026.

The best drift games for PC
1. Mars Rally Championship: the no-install pick
Our game, listed first for that reason. This is Mars Rally Championship's own site; everything below it is ranked on its merits.
Mars Rally Championship is a free 3D rally game that runs in the browser: no download, no install, no account, and no ads. It installs as a PWA, and a 2.5 km stage streams about 9 MB of terrain: the ground for one stage, not the size of the game.
It is not a drift game; it is here because it slides. The rover is all-wheel drive, with 35% of the drive to the front axle, and traction control holds each tire at 90% of its grip, so throttle alone will not throw it sideways. The handbrake starts the slide: Space on a keyboard or A on a gamepad locks the two rear wheels, their sideways grip collapses and the rover pivots. Once a tire is sliding, the loose regolith ploughs up and adds up to 35% more sideways grip, which is why a slide on Mars bites. The game logs drift time past about 14 degrees of slip above about 29 km/h, on stage runs only, and it feeds achievements, not a score.
Controls are a keyboard with rebindable driving keys, or a standard gamepad: left stick to steer, RT throttle, LT brake. A trigger can feather the brake; keyboard brakes are all or nothing. Steering wheels are not tested.
Its limits, plainly: one rover with no tuning garage, three stages, no drift score, no drift events or competitions, and no car-to-car collisions in online rooms by design. It publishes no minimum spec and needs WebGL 2. It ships on HIGH, and the pause button steps down to MEDIUM and LOW. Our own racing games for low-end PCs list rates it the heaviest browser tab there.
Play free — no download2. CarX Drift Racing Online: the default PC drift game
CarX Drift Racing Online from CarX Technologies reached Steam on 17 November 2017, with PS4, Xbox One and Switch versions later. Its Steam text calls it one of the most realistic drift simulators, and it is drift-only: rooms, cars and tuning. Fanatec's guide lists a Core i5-4590 or Ryzen 3 1200, 4 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 950 or Radeon R9 270, DirectX 11 and 6 GB of disk.
A December 2022 update reworked the physics (differential types, kingpin angle, steering axis offset) and added wheel options, including a non-force-feedback mode with an assist like the gamepad one. Community guides cover Logitech G29, G920 and Thrustmaster set-ups. The downsides: 2017 graphics, and split opinions on its force feedback.
Its sequel, CarX Drift Racing Online 2, entered Steam Early Access on 7 May 2026 at $24.99 for Windows. A third-party mirror lists 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 1060, far more than the original. For its physics, see our drift simulator list.
3. Assetto Corsa: the wheel pick
Assetto Corsa from Kunos Simulazioni left Early Access on 19 December 2014 and is still the wheel-first choice. Mirrors of its Steam page list 2 GB of RAM, 15 GB of disk and a DirectX 10.1 card such as a Radeon HD 6450 or GeForce GT 460; the recommended line is 6 GB and a GTX 970 or R9 290X class card.
Its single-player Drift mode scores angle and speed, per a community walkthrough, and community controller guides cover pad play. The catch is age: it is a 2014 base game, and its drift scene leans on community-made cars and tracks. Assetto Corsa EVO is a different game with a much higher minimum, 16 GB of RAM and 100 GB of disk, per Traxion.
4. Forza Horizon 6: drift zones across Japan
Forza Horizon 6 from Playground Games launched on 19 May 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, set in Japan. Its PC minimum is a Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 1600, a GTX 1650, RX 6500 XT or Arc A380, and 16 GB of RAM for 1080p low at 60 fps.
Drifting is one activity here, not the whole game: 20 drift zones rated one to three stars on angle, speed and duration, plus one-on-one touge battles on mountain passes. A Drift Attack mode at Shimanoyama Circuit was announced for a September update; we did not confirm it shipped. Fanatec documents wheel support on PC. Download size is not confirmed, and the physics lean arcade.
5. JDM: Japanese Drift Master: touge roads and a story
JDM: Japanese Drift Master from Gaming Factory reached PC on 21 May 2025 on Steam, Epic and GOG. It wraps drifting in a story across Japanese mountain roads, and a Traxion review says it plays with a gamepad or a wheel. Fanatec's guide lists 8 GB of RAM (some listings say 16 GB), a GTX 1660, Arc A580 or RX 580, and 16 to 18 GB of disk. How deep its physics go is not confirmed.
6. Absolute Drift: the old-laptop pick
Absolute Drift from Funselektor Labs has been on Steam since 29 July 2015 and is a top-down game, so the camera never shows a cockpit. It has Driftkhana, Drifting and Mountain Drifting modes across 34 levels, and the Zen Edition is a free update for owners. Retailer listings put the price near $12 and the minimum at a 2.2 GHz dual-core, 2 GB of RAM, 512 MB of graphics memory and 350 MB of disk, with Mac and Linux builds. It lists full controller support and plays best on a pad. No online play is confirmed.
7. Torque Drift 2: the heavyweight in Early Access
Torque Drift 2 from Grease Monkey Games reached Steam Early Access in late November 2024, with a free demo. The Epic Games Store beta listing asks for a Radeon RX 5700 XT or GeForce RTX 2080 Super, 32 GB of RAM, DirectX 12 and 60 GB of disk, the highest minimum in this list. It lists gamepads and steering wheels, and the demo needs an Epic ID or a Torque Motorsport account. A full release date is not confirmed.
8. Drift Hunters: free in a desktop browser
Drift Hunters, by Studionum43 and built in Unity in 2017, is the free browser pick: 26 cars, 10 locations, tuning for camber, offset and brake balance, and performance parts. CrazyGames lists the browser version as desktop-only, with WASD or arrow keys and Space for the handbrake. Controller support is not confirmed. A successor, Drift Hunters MAX, is also free in a browser. More like it are in games like Drift Hunters.
Drift games for a low-end PC
Published floors, lowest first: Absolute Drift asks for 2 GB of RAM, 512 MB of graphics memory and 350 MB of disk; Assetto Corsa for 2 GB of RAM and a DirectX 10.1 card; CarX Drift Racing Online for 4 GB of RAM and a GTX 950 class card, per Fanatec's guide. Browser games publish no minimum.
Diagram: published minimum RAM by release year, from 2 GB for the 2014 and 2015 games to 16 and 32 GB since 2024; the browser games publish none.
Mars Rally Championship's LOW preset renders at 0.75 scale with no bloom and a 1024-pixel shadow map, and the rover still drives on the same one-metre ground on every preset. The simulation steps the same on any display, so a slow PC changes the looks, not the handling. For general tips, see racing games for low-end PCs.
Controller or steering wheel?
On a pad, CarX has a gamepad assist in its options, Assetto Corsa has community controller guides, JDM lists a gamepad or wheel, Absolute Drift lists full controller support and Torque Drift 2 lists gamepads and wheels. For Forza Horizon 6 the documented support is the wheel; Drift Hunters is not confirmed.
Diagram: four of the eight games document both a pad and a wheel; ours and Absolute Drift only a pad, Forza Horizon 6 only a wheel, Drift Hunters neither.
On a wheel, Assetto Corsa and CarX have the deepest set-up communities, and force feedback helps you hold angle once the rear is out. Fanatec says Forza Horizon 6 gives grip and slip cues through the wheel, not at simulator level.
Mars Rally Championship takes a standard gamepad, a keyboard or touch. Its pad tuning is a steer deadzone of 0.10, a trigger deadzone of 0.05 and a steer curve exponent of 1.6. Wheels are not tested. Browser pad setup is covered in our controller guide for browser racing games.
