Mars Rally Championship, a free browser rally game, is listed first because it is ours: it shares art of rally's timed stages driven alone against the clock, plus ghosts and a daily challenge, but it is 3D, on Mars, with one rover. Among paid games, Rush Rally Origins is the most similar top-down rally game and #DRIVE Rally is a stylised '90s rally game with co-drivers. Super Woden: Rally Edge and Old School Rally keep the arcade, old-car feel.

What makes a game feel like art of rally?
art of rally, from Funselektor Labs, came out on 23 September 2020. Its Career mode has 60 stages from Finland to Sardinia, Norway, Japan and Germany, and 50+ cars from the 60s to the 80s, Group B, Group S and Group A. It lists at $24.99 on Steam and is also on Xbox, Switch, PlayStation, iOS and Android. Four traits make it what it is, and each pick below is judged on them:
- Stage rally alone against the clock. You race the stage and the time, not a pack of cars.
- A high, pulled-back camera. Funselektor describes it as top-down, with "colorful and stylized environments".
- Golden-era cars and a stylised look. Store text: "Drive iconic cars from the 60s to Group B".
- Short, replayable stages with boards. Leaderboards with daily and weekly challenges, and options "from beginner-friendly" to expert modes.
Tag-built lists ignore these traits, which is how stock-car and truck games end up on them. If you want realistic simulation instead, games like DiRT Rally is the better list; this one is about the look and the loop.

Reading the table: only Rush Rally Origins pairs the top-down view with timed stages, so it is the one that shares the most with art of rally. #DRIVE Rally shares the stages, the old cars and the boards. Super Woden: Rally Edge and Old School Rally share the arcade feel and online times. The two Funselektor games share the studio and the mood, but one has no clock and the other is about drifting. Only art of rally and Rush Rally Origins are confirmed top-down; none of the other official pages describe their camera, so this post does not guess.

The best games like art of rally
Mars Rally Championship: timed stages on Mars, free in a browser
Our game, listed first for that reason. This is Mars Rally Championship's own site; everything below it is ranked on how many of art of rally's traits it shares.
Mars Rally Championship is a free 3D rally game that runs in the browser with no download, no install and no account. You drive a rover alone against the clock on four open stages, from 1,164 m to 2,676 m long. Stage 1 is a night loop and Stage 4, Down the Mountain, runs at sunset. Each stage has four boards (forward, reversed, storm and reversed storm), you race the ghosts of board runs, and every board run can be watched as a replay.
In-game screenshot: The Opener, Stage 3, from the pulled-back HIGH camera, under a day sky the daily challenge can roll.
On the four traits: it has the clock and the boards. A daily challenge rolls the stage, sky and board for everyone, like art of rally's daily challenges. It has 15 cameras, including HELI and HIGH for a pulled-back view, though none of them is top-down. The skies are sunrise, day, sunset and night.
It does several things badly next to art of rally, and they are plain. There is one rover, with no car list and no golden-era cars. Four stages are open against art of rally's 60. It is not a stylised look. It is a game in development, with a single handling and no assist settings. Braking from 100 km/h takes about 125 m on Mars, so it asks for patience before it feels good. It works on a desktop, a Chromebook or a phone in landscape, and a pad is supported.
Best for: someone who wants the stage-and-clock loop right now, for free, with nothing to install.
Play free — no downloadRush Rally Origins: the closest top-down rally game
Rush Rally Origins, from Brownmonster Limited, lists at $14.99 on Steam and came out on 13 April 2022. Steam calls it "the definitive top down racer". It combines the top-down action of the original Rush Rally with the graphics and physics of Rush Rally 3, and it has 48 stages across the world with a changeable time of day and weather. Surfaces run from snow to gravel, mud and tarmac. It also has 18 rallycross circuits in three cups, an A-B Race mode, time trial, ghost racing and cross-platform multiplayer. Brownmonster lists it on iOS, Apple TV, Android, Android TV and Nintendo Switch as well. Players often name it and Rush Rally 3 as the nearest match.
Best for: the top-down camera above everything else. A free demo exists on Steam.
#DRIVE Rally: a stylised '90s rally with co-drivers
#DRIVE Rally, from Pixel Perfect Dude, lists at $19.99 and came out on 16 April 2025 for Windows, Mac and Linux. Steam calls it an arcade-inspired rally experience set in the golden racing era of the '90s. It has 25 customizable cars in three rally classes, over 600 km of stages in six locations from Finland to the deserts of the USA, six co-drivers with their own championships and global leaderboards with saved ghosts. It is Steam Deck Verified. PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch versions launched on 18 June 2026.
Best for: the old-car, stylised, boards-and-ghosts side of art of rally.
Super Woden: Rally Edge: arcade rally with a garage and split-screen
Super Woden: Rally Edge, from ViJuDa, is a spin-off of the Super Woden series. It lists at $12.99 on Steam (Windows) and came out on 15 January 2026. You buy, sell, upgrade and customize cars in a garage, record times online against other players' records, and play locally with up to four in split-screen. Consoles followed on 2 September 2026 at $14.99 digital, with physical Switch and PS5 editions shipping in October 2026. Traxion ranks it fifth in its five best rally games of 2026, an editorial pick rather than a score. Stage count and ghosts are not confirmed.
Best for: a cheap arcade career that two to four people can share on one screen.
Old School Rally: a late-'90s rally look on one developer's budget
Old School Rally, from Frozen Lake Games and published by Astrolabe Games, lists at $12.99 on Steam, Windows only, and came out on 3 December 2025. It has retro visuals inspired by classic late '90s rally games, dirt, tarmac and snow, global leaderboards and Steam Workshop support. The store page says it was developed by a solo developer. Stage and car counts are not confirmed, and there is no confirmed ghost feature.
Best for: players who want the retro rally feel and a board to chase, at the lowest price on the list.
over the hill: Funselektor's next game, off-road with no clock
over the hill is Funselektor's new game, released on Steam on 14 October 2026 at $24.99 for Windows and Linux. Funselektor calls it an offroad exploration game with iconic 4x4 vehicles from the 60s to the 80s, played solo or with up to three friends. Its own page is blunt: "This is a driving game, not a racing game". Consoles follow in 2027.
Best for: art of rally fans who like the studio's era and mood more than the stopwatch.
Absolute Drift: the same studio, sliding instead of stages
Absolute Drift is Funselektor's earlier game; art of rally's official site bills itself as coming from its creator. It lists at $14.99 and came out on 29 July 2015, and it is on PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, iOS and Android. It has free roam and drift events, lets you drift alongside the ghosts of top players, and has replays and unlockable cars. It shares the studio and the ghosts but is drifting, not stage rally.
Best for: art of rally fans who want to slide rather than race stages, from the same studio.
Is there a free game like art of rally?
Yes: Mars Rally Championship, which is ours, is free in a browser. It shares the stage-against-the-clock loop and the daily challenge, and it does not share the top-down view, the old cars or the 60 stages. Rush Rally Origins has a free demo on Steam, if you want to try the closest top-down match before paying $14.99. art of rally itself is paid, at $24.99 on Steam. For other free browser rally games, see the best free rally games online.
You can start Mars Rally Championship on Stage 4, Down the Mountain, a 1,689 m sunset stage whose gates 9 to 11 are a left-right-left triple 182 m from first to last.
What about leaderboards and daily challenges?
art of rally has daily and weekly challenge leaderboards. #DRIVE Rally has global leaderboards with saved ghosts. Old School Rally and Super Woden: Rally Edge have Steam leaderboards and online times. Rush Rally Origins has ghost racing and cross-platform multiplayer. Mars Rally Championship has four boards per stage, ghosts, a replay of every board run, and a daily challenge whose date-rolled stage is the same for everyone and resets at local midnight. There is no separate daily board: a daily run goes on that stage's board. For more on this loop, see racing games with daily challenges.
The Stage 4 leaderboard shows how a board looks: each run has a REPLAY button that rebuilds it from its inputs and a RACE button that starts you against its ghost.
