Games Like Smash Karts: Free Multiplayer Driving Games

Games like Smash Karts that run free in a browser start with Mars Rally Championship, a free browser rally game, listed first because it is ours: no weapons and no collisions, but up to eight friends racing one stage from a shared link. On merit, GoKarts.io is the closest kart-combat match, Kart Wars adds team capture the flag, RocketGoal.io swaps weapons for a ball, and Madalin Stunt Cars 3 is a multiplayer sandbox. SuperTuxKart is the free download if you will install.

  • A fair race for a group, no weapons: Mars Rally Championship, our game (its one label).
  • Closest to Smash Karts (karts, weapons, online arenas): GoKarts.io.
  • A team objective instead of a deathmatch: Kart Wars, desktop only and last updated in 2018.
  • An arena without weapons: RocketGoal.io, car soccer with a ranked 3v3 mode.
  • Hanging out with friends, no goal: Madalin Stunt Cars 3.
  • If you will install something: SuperTuxKart, free and open source.

What makes Smash Karts work

Smash Karts, made by Tall Team, is a free kart battler built on short rounds. Its App Store listing puts up to 8 players in a free-for-all deathmatch, and Poki describes three-minute matches played to a score target, solo or in teams. Weapons come from question-mark boxes: CrazyGames names rockets, mines, cannonballs and invincibility, and Poki counts 11 in all. Capture the flag is another mode, and the game runs in desktop, tablet and phone browsers and in iOS and Android apps.

Poki says a private game lets you set the mode, arena, weapons, match length and number of players, but earns no XP. A player guide says sign-in with Google, Apple, Discord or email is optional and keeps a cloud save, and the App Store version is free with in-app purchases.

Diagram: players per match as bars, Mars Rally Championship and Smash Karts at up to 8, RocketGoal.io 3v3 in ranked and PolyTrack up to 16 when hosting, the rest not confirmed, beside how a group gets into one game: an invite link or public lobby, a private game with your own rules, an invite code, a lobby, your own server, or none.

Diagram: Mars Rally Championship and Smash Karts hold up to 8 and PolyTrack 16 when hosting; five of the nine leave room size or the way in unconfirmed.

That package breaks into four things an alternative can keep. Weapons: the item boxes and the fight. The arena: a short round in a small space with a visible score. The hangout: friends dropping into the same game. The competition: a result the group argues about afterward. Mars Rally Championship keeps the last two and drops the first two on purpose.

Games like Smash Karts, ranked by how much of it they keep

1. Mars Rally Championship: the no-weapons race for friends

Our game, listed first for that reason. This is Mars Rally Championship's own site; everything below it is ranked on its merits, by how much of Smash Karts it keeps.

Mars Rally Championship is a free 3D rally game that runs in the browser with no download, no account and no ads. Online racing puts up to 8 pilots on one Martian stage at the same time. The host opens a private room and shares its invite link, /play?join=<code>, or a public room that is listed in the lobby. Online race times post to the leaderboard automatically under your call sign, with no name field to fill in.

It keeps the hangout and the competition and drops the rest. Opponents are name-tagged translucent rovers you drive straight through, so no rival can touch you, and there are no items, eliminations or teams. Each pilot's timer runs from their own GO, and the server ranks finish times. A race runs a few minutes, like a Smash Karts match: on Stage 1, The Eight, a 2,676 m loop driven at night, gold is 2:47.3 and bronze 4:57.3. The limits are plain: one rover, three drivable stages, and a group that wants chaos will find it quiet.

Diagram: a time axis from zero to five minutes; a Smash Karts match is a bar ending at three minutes, where the most eliminations win, and each of the three stages is a band from its gold to its bronze time: Stage 1 2:47.3 to 4:57.3, Stage 2 2:24.2 to 4:16.3, Stage 3 1:12.8 to 2:09.3.

Diagram: each stage’s gold beats three minutes and the two longer stages’ bronze runs past; a match ends on the clock, a race when the field is home.

2. GoKarts.io: karts and weapons, the closest match

GoKarts.io is, per its CrazyGames listing, a 3D multiplayer kart game with combat in arenas and weapons and power-ups in both races and battles. You fire with Space or the left mouse button, and leveling up unlocks characters, karts and gear. It was released in May 2025 and runs in a desktop, mobile or tablet browser. A localized listing says matches last more than three minutes against players worldwide.

That is Smash Karts' structure almost one for one: karts, weapons, arenas and unlocks. What we could not confirm is what a group needs: a private room, players per match and the touch layout.

3. Kart Wars: team capture the flag

Kart Wars, by Martian Games, is a cartoon kart game inspired by Mario Kart, according to its CrazyGames listing. It offers karts from go-karts to monster trucks, power-ups and weapons, and a battle mode of team capture the flag, which no other browser pick here has.

It is a Unity WebGL game for desktop browsers only, last updated in November 2018 according to the listing. Whether its lobbies are busy in 2026 is not confirmed, so open it before you plan an evening around it.

4. RocketGoal.io: an arena with a ball instead of rockets

RocketGoal.io, from PocketHavenGames, keeps the arena and swaps the weapons for a ball. CrazyGames lists it as car soccer with league and ranked matches, released in January 2026, and the App Store lists a 3-on-3 ranked mode with real-time online matches. You drive, jump, boost, drift and air roll, a controller can be used, and it runs in desktop, mobile and tablet browsers.

We did not find the match size outside ranked play, and the listing does not document its touch layout.

5. Madalin Stunt Cars 3: a multiplayer sandbox

Madalin Stunt Cars 3 has single-player and multiplayer, over 60 cars and three maps. The developer's play page shows it last updated on 16 November 2025 and also offers a download of about 380 MB for Windows, Mac and Linux.

A third-party player guide describes picking a name and either creating a lobby for friends or joining a public room. That makes it the hangout without the fight: no weapons, no objective, just stunts together. Phone play is not confirmed.

6. Free Rally: an open city you can ram people in

Free Rally, on CrazyGames, is a server where players race or ram each other in an open city, with several vehicles from a bus to a dune buggy. It runs in a desktop, mobile or tablet browser, in landscape or portrait, and guests can play; a CrazyGames account syncs progress.

The friction is the lobby: you join a running server rather than send a private link, and it is free roam, so a race exists only if your group agrees on one. The ramming is the nearest thing to Smash Karts' contact, without the weapons.

7. PolyTrack: racing friends on time

PolyTrack, Kodub's low-poly time-trial racer, added experimental live multiplayer in version 0.6.0 on 10 March 2026. Since 0.6.1 in May a hosted game holds up to 16 and any player can hand out invites. It also has medals and ships a track editor. It is a racer, not a combat game; the multiplayer racing roundup compares it with the other invite-based games.

8. SuperTuxKart (download, for comparison)

SuperTuxKart is free and open source, and its online modes include a normal race, time trial, soccer, battle (an arena where you hit others with collected items, and three hits put you out) and, since version 1.0, capture the flag. It is the nearest match to Smash Karts' battle and capture-the-flag modes, for no money.

The catch is the install. Online play needs a free STK account, as its FAQ explains. Version 1.5 arrived on 20 October 2025 for desktop and Android, and for iOS that November. An experimental WebAssembly port runs in a tab without networking, so it cannot race anyone online.

Racing friends with no weapons: how a skill race plays

Take the weapons away and the result changes from a kill count to a time. A Smash Karts free-for-all goes to whoever has the most eliminations when the three minutes end. In Mars Rally Championship the whole field drives the same stage at once and the server ranks finish times, so the fastest line wins, not the best ambush.

With no contact, nobody can lie in wait for you and nobody's lag can push you off the road. Each pilot's position goes out 15 times a second and is drawn 150 milliseconds behind, so a rival on bad Wi-Fi may stutter on your screen but cannot move your rover. The netcode write-up has the detail.

Mid-race pause is disabled and leaving is a DNF, but if your connection drops, the run carries on offline and still posts at the finish. Once the field is home, WATCH THE WHOLE RACE on the results screen replays every finisher's run together, following the winner first; F or NEXT CAR switches to the next pilot. That replay is where a group settles the argument.

Mars Rally Championship in-game screenshot: a whole-race replay of an online race on Stage 2 at sunset, the winning rover, race number 27, and the runner-up as a faint translucent ghost tagged PILOT running side by side toward the camera, under the replay banner reading RACE, P1 OF 2, PILOT, 02:33.581, with a NEXT CAR button.

In-game screenshot: WATCH THE WHOLE RACE on a two-pilot race that finished 0.006 s apart, the winner followed and the runner-up a tinted ghost alongside.

Smash Karts and its alternatives on a phone

Smash Karts runs in a phone browser in landscape (per CrazyGames) with on-screen pedals and a tap item button (per Poki), and it has iOS and Android apps. GoKarts.io and RocketGoal.io list phone and tablet browsers too. Kart Wars is desktop only.

Mars Rally Championship shows touch controls on screens under 1200 pixels: GAS, BRAKE, HANDBRAKE, an analog steering track, look left and right, and gear chips. It is landscape-locked. Our mobile browser racing roundup covers the wider field.

Where to try this

Questions, answered

What games are like Smash Karts?

Mars Rally Championship, our game, comes first: up to 8 friends race one stage with no weapons. On merit, GoKarts.io is closest for kart combat, Kart Wars adds team capture the flag, RocketGoal.io is car soccer and Madalin Stunt Cars 3 a sandbox. SuperTuxKart is the one worth installing.

Is there a game like Smash Karts without weapons?

Yes. RocketGoal.io keeps the small arena and swaps weapons for a ball, with ranked 3v3 matches. Mars Rally Championship turns rooms of up to 8 friends into a race on time with no collisions, so the fastest finish wins, not the most eliminations.

Can you play Smash Karts privately with friends?

Yes. Poki says a private game lets you choose the mode, arena, weapons, match length and number of players. Private games give no XP, so they suit a group playing for fun rather than progress.

Do you need an account for Smash Karts?

No. A player guide says signing in with Google, Apple, Discord or email is optional and keeps a cloud save. Mars Rally Championship needs no account at all, only a call sign of up to 20 characters stored in your browser.

Yes, for several. Smash Karts runs in a phone browser in landscape with on-screen pedals and an item button, and GoKarts.io and RocketGoal.io list phone browsers too. Kart Wars is desktop only, and Madalin Stunt Cars 3 has no confirmed phone support.
