The best free online drifting games run in a browser tab with nothing to install. Mars Rally Championship, a free browser rally game, is listed first because it is ours: no download, no account and no ads, but its slides are timed rally driving, not scored drifting. On merit, Drift Hunters MAX is the best scored drift game in a browser, Drift.io the one to open with friends, Sky Car Drift the easiest on a phone, and the original Drift Hunters still the deepest desktop garage.
In-game screenshot: free roam at sunset, the rover pivoting on the handbrake with its rear wheels locked; no clock, no gates, nothing to install.
Start a stage in your browser, no sign-up.
Quick picks, one per use case:
- Scored drifting with a garage: Drift Hunters MAX, with 39 cars, 13 tracks and tuning, free in the browser on desktop and mobile.
- With friends, in a browser: Drift.io, with lobbies for up to 8 friends and Battle, Grand Prix and Time Trial modes.
- On a phone browser: Sky Car Drift, a landscape mobile build where trophies unlock 200+ cars.
- Desktop, deepest original: Drift Hunters, with 26 cars, 10 locations and full tuning, desktop only in the browser.
- Rally slides on loose ground, no ads: Mars Rally Championship, our game: no download, no account, no ads, and a standard gamepad works.
- A two-minute break: Drift Boss, one button, plays anywhere, but not real car control.
Scored drifting or a rally slide: which one do you want?
Scored drift games pay you for the slide itself. Drift Hunters MAX, Drift Hunters, Burnout Drift and Sky Car Drift reward angle, speed and duration, and most turn those points into cash for cars and parts.
A rally slide is a tool. You rotate the car to take a corner faster, and the clock is the judge. Mars Rally Championship is this kind, and Rally Racer Dirt sits between the two. If you want a number that climbs while you hold a slide, pick a scored game. For the physics behind both, read how drifting works in racing games.
Diagram: one corner, two payouts; a drift game pays points for angle, speed and duration, while a rally slide only counts in the time at the next gate.
What we checked for each game: whether it downloads or installs anything, whether it asks you to sign up, what ads it runs, whether a controller works, whether it plays in a phone browser, and what multiplayer it has. Sources are each developer's page, portal listing (CrazyGames, Poki, drifted.com) or the portal's own developer rules; Mars Rally Championship's details come from its own code. A game made the list if it runs in a browser today from the developer or an official portal listing and is free to start. Portal ads are set by the portal, not the game. We did not hand-test every game on every device, and "not confirmed" means we could not check it. Last checked: October 2026.

The games, one by one
1. Mars Rally Championship: rally slides with no ads and no account
Our game, listed first for that reason. This is Mars Rally Championship's own site; everything below it is ranked on its merits.
Mars Rally Championship is a free 3D rally game that runs in the browser with no download, no install and no account. You can install it as an app from the browser, but nothing requires it, and it has no ads in the game or on the site.
A slide here is a handbrake turn. The handbrake locks the two rear wheels only, their sideways grip collapses and the rover pivots. The rover is all-wheel drive, so it is not a rear-driver you throw around on power. Loose ground does the rest: a tire sliding sideways ploughs up regolith and gains up to 35% more sideways grip, and past about 15 degrees of slip the force settles on a plateau near 92% of its peak, so a held slide stays catchable. The game counts drift time once the rover is more than about 14 degrees sideways at over about 29 km/h on a timed stage run. That time feeds two achievements, SIDEWAYS and DRIFT ROYALTY; free roam and the tutorial do not count.
A standard gamepad works (A is the handbrake), the keyboard uses Space, and phones and tablets get a landscape touch layout. Online rooms take up to 8 pilots.
The limits are real. There is no drift score, no drift meter and no drift competitions: stage results rank finish time only. There is one rover and no tuning garage, only cosmetics. Online rooms have no car-to-car collisions. Three stages are open, and a stage streams about 9 MB of terrain the first time you load it. If you came to rack up points for a long slide, this is the wrong game.
Play free — no download2. Drift Hunters MAX: the best scored drift game in a browser
Drift Hunters MAX is a free browser game on drifted.com, announced in April 2022 and, according to drifted.com, made with the original Drift Hunters creator. Its page lists 39 cars with a free AE86 to start, 13 tracks, tuning and a Drift Attack mode. Controls are W, A, S, D, with Space for the handbrake, plus touch buttons on mobile. No gamepad is listed.
A 2024 update brought it to mobile and added AI traffic, a street mode and cross-platform saving. The VIP sign-up was described then as a free, limited-time offer that unlocked two cars, sync and online leaderboards and removed on-page ads; we could not confirm the current terms. Skip it if you want live multiplayer or a controller.
3. Drift.io: drifting with friends, plus weapons
On CrazyGames, Drift.io runs on desktop, mobile and tablet and was last updated in December 2025. It has a Battle mode with rockets, freezing lasers and bouncy explosives, a Grand Prix, and Time Trials with monthly leaderboards. You can create a lobby for up to 8 friends or join players from around the world.
drifted.com's review, from January 2026, says it is not trying to be a realistic sim drifter and lists cars, wraps, tire sets and daily and weekly challenges. drifted.com publishes competing drift games, so read that as one publisher's view. Skip it if you want drifting without weapons. Whether cars collide, and whether a controller works, we could not confirm.
4. Sky Car Drift: the phone-browser pick
Sky Car Drift is by Plum Games on CrazyGames, released in May 2023 and updated in April 2026. It plays in landscape on desktop, mobile and tablet. You drift above the clouds without falling off, and trophies unlock 200+ cars, 120 drivers, 500 emotes and 10 skies. drifted.com's review adds that there is no tuning, and lists Journey, Career, Multiplayer (online battles with friends) and Bully modes. Skip it if you want tuning. Controller support is not confirmed.
5. Drift Hunters: the original, on desktop
Drift Hunters, by Studionum43 (Ilya Kaminetsky), dates from February 2017. CrazyGames lists 26 cars, 10 locations and tuning from camber to brake pressure, with Space for the handbrake. In a browser it is desktop only, with App Store and Google Play apps for phones. No multiplayer is listed. If you liked it and want more of the same, games like Drift Hunters covers what is close.
6. Burnout Drift: the same loop, smaller and older
Burnout Drift is by BoneCracker Games, from April 2017, built in Unity WebGL. You drift for money and spend it on buying and tuning cars, and crashing loses your drift points. The CrazyGames listing counts 12 cars and three tracks, for desktop browsers, with iOS and Android apps. Skip it if a phone browser or online play matters.
7. Rally Racer Dirt: drift challenges on dirt and asphalt
Rally Racer Dirt is credited to Valvolex on CrazyGames, where it appeared in WebGL in November 2023 and was updated in July 2025. It runs on desktop, mobile and tablet in landscape. It is a drift-based rally game on asphalt and dirt, with 60 challenges, a Survival mode and a realtime multiplayer mode, 13 rally cars and 5 tracks. Skip it if you want timed stages rather than challenges. For the wider field, see games like Rally Racer Dirt.
8. Drift Boss: one button, not a car
Drift Boss is on Poki, credited to MarketJS: you tap the screen to drift and lift your finger to stop. It plays anywhere, but you only choose when to turn, not how much. It is not a steering game, and suits a short break.
Ads, sign-ups and downloads: what "free" costs in each
Portal games are ad-supported. CrazyGames' developer rules allow banners, midgame ads and opt-in rewarded ads, and the SDK caps midgame ads at one every three minutes, meant for natural pauses. Guests can play without a CrazyGames account; the account is for saving progress across devices. Poki's SDK runs commercial breaks before gameplay starts, plus opt-in rewarded breaks. drifted.com shows on-page ads, which its VIP sign-up removed under the 2024-era terms.
Diagram: where each host can put an ad in a session; CrazyGames caps midgame ads at one every three minutes, and Mars Rally Championship shows none.
Mars Rally Championship has no ads and no account. There is no sign-up and nothing you have to log into, and the site runs no ad networks. When a drive ends the game does send the line the rover took, with a device id and no call sign, and you can turn that off in Settings under SHARING DRIVE PATHS.
Drifting in a phone browser or with a controller
Phones are the clearest split. Drift Hunters MAX has been mobile-optimised since 2024, by the developer's account. Sky Car Drift and Drift.io list desktop, mobile and tablet on CrazyGames, and Rally Racer Dirt plays in landscape. Mars Rally Championship shows touch controls on phones and tablets under 1200 px wide, locked to landscape: GAS, BRAKE, HANDBRAKE and an analog steering track. In a browser, Drift Hunters and Burnout Drift are desktop only and send phone players to their apps.
In-game screenshot: Stage 3, The Opener, on a phone held sideways, the HB handbrake button pressed as the rover rotates on the run into gate 7, a left-hander.
Controllers are less settled. Mars Rally Championship reads a standard gamepad: A for the handbrake, the right trigger for throttle and the left for brake. A trigger can feather the brake, where keyboard and touch brakes are all or nothing. For the other games, controller support is not confirmed, and Drift Hunters MAX lists keyboard controls only. Browser games with controller support covers the wider field.
Where to try this
Open Mars Rally Championship and drive a stage, or use free roam to practise slides with no clock; it has no timer and banks nothing, so it is the place to learn the handbrake. To drive with others, open an online room for up to 8 pilots. For picks on PC and console, the hub best drifting games covers them, multiplayer drift games goes deeper on playing with friends, and free browser racing games with no download widens the search beyond drifting.
